Simon Buckle

Simon Buckle is a British artist with a background in graphic design. He studied at York School of Art, where he gained a Higher National Diploma in Graphic Design. Following his formal education, Simon spent four decades as a partner in a successful design studio, building a career rooted in visual communication, composition, and creative problem-solving.

After recently retiring from the design industry, Simon has been able to devote more time to painting, returning to a long-standing personal interest with renewed focus. His work is informed by his extensive design experience, combining a strong sense of structure with expressive freedom.

Working in a style he describes as abstract realism, Simon explores the space between representation and abstraction, balancing recognisable elements with texture, colour, and atmosphere. His paintings reflect a lifetime of visual discipline while embracing the spontaneity and experimentation of fine art practice.
