Hanneke Boleij

Hanneke Boleij, born 1957 in the Netherlands.
The basis of the work is the landscape, the space, the vastness, and the vistas.
All of these elements play an important element in the work. Ultimately, the landscape has become increasingly abstract, resulting in complete abstraction. Nevertheless, the wonderment of the landscape occasionally invites us to take a step back, which is visible in the oeuvre, and from there to return to abstraction.
More and more often, the recognizable is omitted and what remains is the direct plane or the direct line. The intensity of plane and line are then essential. Less is more.
Everything revolves around the search for essence, the omission.
Stillness and space are of great importance, as are light and dark.
It forces us to perceive things differently.
All works are executed in oil on canvas.

I am mainly a self-taught artist. I took lessons from several artists.
