Leticia Barros

Letícia Barros is a Brazilian visual artist whose research focuses on the human figure as a field of emotional tension, silence, and psychic states. Born in the Amazon biome, her practice investigates the relationships between body, environment, and climatic conditions as sensitive states, approaching the body as a site of suspension, memory, affection, and containment.

Working primarily with drawing and painting on paper — charcoal, watercolor, and oil pastel — the artist constructs images in which action appears interrupted, inhabited by a time of waiting and by a presence that does not resolve into narrative.
