I work with painting as a way of holding tension rather than resolving it. My work is shaped by reduction, control, and restraint rather than gesture or expression. I am interested in what remains when narrative, symbolism, and explanation fall away.
Color and material are structural decisions in my paintings. They are used to create presence rather than atmosphere, density rather than mood. The surface becomes a site of quiet friction: between weight and openness, insistence and restraint, intimacy and distance.
My process is slow and deliberate. Decisions are made carefully, often leaving traces of hesitation or resistance visible. These marks are not refined away; they are integral to the work’s physical and emotional weight.
I work without narrative or biographical justification. My paintings do not explain themselves and do not rely on theory to hold. I am less concerned with representation than with how a painting occupies space, how long it holds attention, and how it remains present over time.
My work does not aim to comfort or persuade. It aims to remain.
