André Clemetsen is a Norwegian documentary photographer and writer whose work explores the relationship between people, memory, and the environments they inhabit. With over two decades of experience, his practice moves between documentary and fine art, often focusing on themes such as displacement, identity, and the long-term impact of conflict.
He has exhibited internationally, with more than 25 exhibitions since 2008, including shows in Paris, Budapest, Osaka, Tokyo, and Oslo.
His work has received multiple distinctions at the Prix de la Photographie Paris (PX3), including three Gold awards in documentary, as well as several Silver awards across landscape, nature, and wedding categories, and additional Silver and Bronze awards in portraiture.
Recent projects, including his work on Vietnamese boat refugees and the Concrete Human series, examine how both war and modern urban structures shape human experience across generations.
Through a quiet and observational approach, Clemetsen creates images that invite reflection on presence, distance, and the fragile connection between individuals and the spaces around them.
