My work is related to my interest in the commonalities of visual art and music. Geometric and biomorphic forms are intertwined to create visual patters that may reference nature, but also stand alone. Musical elements are referenced to create rhythmic, dynamic, and original pieces. The abstract work has references to Cubism, Abstract Expressionism, and purely abstract work with musical references or inspirations.
Neil Andersson received his MFA in painting and drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (1987), BFA from the University of Washington (1985), BA from the University of Puget Sound (1970) and K-12 WA State Teaching Certificate from Pacific Lutheran University. His artwork has been featured in exhibitions in the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia, Indiana, Illinois, and California.
He has served on the Tacoma Arts Commission, and taught painting at The University of Puget Sound, Pierce College, Tacoma Community College and Highline Community College and the Puyallup Tribe’s Chief Leschi School (K-12) where he taught both art and music.
He has served as Gallery Director for Cypress Gallery, and Vice-President and President of the Board of Directors of Gallery Los Olivos. He continues his life-long interest...
