Federico Povoleri

Federico Povoleri was born in Venice in 1963. The legendary journalist, comics copywriter, and writer Alberto Ongaro took him under his wing and trained him in the art of literary comics. As such, Povoleri worked with artists such as Attilio Micheluzzi and Ivo Pavone, publishing with Universo and Rizzoli, among others. He also collaborated with Walt Disney Italia for several years. Povoleri studied documentary filmmaking and directs videos of opera (Lou Salomè, Le Nozze di Figaro and many others) and symphony concerts (Diego Matheuz, John Axelrod and many others) at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. Povoleri has composed the music for almost all of Massimo Mazzucco's documentaries.

He began taking photographs at the age of 11 with a Voightlander Vitoret camera, and at the same age learned how to use a lab for developing negatives and printing photographic prints. His main passion is street photography, but he has also dabbled in reportage and studio photography. His inspiration comes from many photographers, such as Henry Cartier-Bresson and Steve McCurry, and in his desire to explore the hidden soul of his city, he published an international book with TeNeues: "Venice Through a Venetian's Eye." He earned a diploma in theatrical video and multimedia documentation and non-linear digital editing at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
