The story of Shafqat Israr Dar is one of a lifelong "art insect" finally finding its ultimate expression. From his early childhood in Pakistan, Shafqat was recognized for his preternatural ability to visualize complex forms, often spending his days illustrating intricate diagrams for his peers. While his talent was evident from youth, it reached a spiritual crossroads five years ago. Since then, he has dedicated himself exclusively to the specialized mastery of Arabic Calligraphy, transforming ancient scripts into modern, high-textural masterpieces.
Philosophy: The Pursuit of "Sukun" through Struggle
For Shafqat, art is not a leisure activity; it is a form of Dhikr (remembrance). His creative process is centered on the pursuit of Divine Peace (Sukun) through the physical challenge of the medium. Unlike many contemporary artists who seek the easiest path, Shafqat intentionally approaches difficulty. He is inspired by the legendary masters of the past, pushing himself to work with high-density, 10kg solid wood boards and deeply textured canvases that require immense physical and mental discipline.
