Magdalena Krzebiot

I come from a family in which art was the natural language of everyday life. My roots are deeply connected to the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where my closest family members studied and developed as artists.
My grandfather, Jerzy Potrzebowski, often referred to as the "New Chełmoński", created works distinguished by a profound understanding of form and light. My grandmother, Maria Potrzebowska, brought subtlety and harmony to her paintings, while my mother, Elżbieta Potrzebowska, continued this artistic tradition by combining classical foundations with her own distinctive sensitivity. My father, Zbigniew Krzebiot, graduated with distinction from the Faculty of Graphic Arts and devoted much of his work to gemstones and granite sculpture, exploring the relationship between matter, form and precision.
Today, I continue this family legacy by creating both paintings inspired by my grandfather and mother and original works of my own. Through them, I seek to capture the delicate interplay of light, memory, colour, atmosphere and emotion, revealing the quiet dialogue between what is visible and what remains hidden.
