I am a self-taught charcoal artist based in Cape Town, South Africa, focused on capturing raw human emotion through contrast and simplicity.
My work strips away unnecessary detail, leaving only what matters expression, tension, and presence. Working exclusively in black and white, I use charcoal to push deep shadows and soft transitions, creating portraits that feel both intimate and confrontational.
Each piece explores themes of silence, isolation, and the unspoken weight people carry. Rather than aiming for perfect realism, I focus on mood and emotional impact inviting the viewer to feel something before they understand it.
My process is slow and layered, allowing the subject to emerge gradually from darkness into light.
