David Ertaim

David Ertaim is a French contemporary artist based in Romans-sur-Isère.

His artistic journey began in 2019 during an urban sketching workshop in Senlis, a formative experience that led to a daily practice. He has since trained in various art institutions, including the Beaux-Arts workshops in Compiègne and the ESAD in Valence.

Working across drawing, watercolor, oil and acrylic painting, as well as digital media, David Ertaim develops a multidisciplinary approach centered on gesture, color, and expressive line. His work emphasizes intuition and experimentation, creating a dialogue between traditional techniques and contemporary tools.

He does not seek to reproduce reality, but to reveal what it becomes as it passes through his gaze, his gesture, and his choices of color.

He also explores a distinctive form of digital drawing, created directly with his finger on a smartphone, maintaining a spontaneous and immediate relationship with the act of drawing.

At the intersection of expressionism and free, intuitive figuration, his work resists strict categorization and unfolds through varied forms, revealing sensitive and poetic visual narratives.
