Artist in Portland Oregon. I like to make art to let my mind wander, get lost in process, collaborate with people, and feel good. The recent works are exploring the two different activities of drawing and painting with conscious intent while varying the orientation of the canvas to let the unconscious process take place.
My original inspiration to explore abstraction grew from Kandinsky and Diebenkorn. Kandinsky for the math and jazz of composition and color, and Diebenkorn for the sense of atmosphere, time, place, and the encouragement of the intuitive methods of everyday life. I have noticed that somewhere in there the painting has a chance to be none of those things and something else for another person.
