With fifteen years of experience as an artist, educator, and community organizer, my practice is rooted in the historical foundations of photography and film. Beyond mere documentation, I use still and moving images to amplify marginalized voices and foster deep communal connections. My work centers on intimate portraits of my Mexican-American family, my chosen queer family, and historically underrepresented communities.
I am particularly drawn to the tactile, unpredictable nature of analog photography. I embrace the medium’s inherent "imperfections"—light leaks, scratches, and multiple exposures—viewing them as authentic reflections of the complexities of the human experience. For me, the photographic process is a collaborative act built on trust, patience, and vulnerability. This approach creates a space where subjects can claim their identities and find empowerment through the creative process.
My commitment to the image extends into the realm of social advocacy. Based in Oak Cliff, I believe art is a catalyst for dialogue and social change.
