Raimondas Balciunas

Hello,
I am a multidisciplinary artist, sometimes called an “art orchestra”, born in Kaunas,
Lithuania. Since childhood, I have been interested in color, line and conceptual composition.
And this passion grew into formal studies in ceramics at the Kaunas School of Applied Arts (1981–1985), along with a constant, independent exploration of art history, styles and performance techniques.

Although I am trained as a ceramist, I was eventually captivated by painting. My artistic style conveys the spirit of both disciplines, combining structural depth with painterly expression. Over the years, this has evolved into what
I call “structural painting” – a mixed media process in which I create textured compositions on canvas or linen using gypsum-based paints, and then enrich the surfaces with acrylic paints, oil paints, metallic bronze and gold or silver leaf. The result is a luminous, three-dimensional effect that changes in light, creating a unique sense of movement and vitality.

My creative themes often revolve around cosmic changes, spiritual principles, the human emotional palette,
