Bertrand De Vismes

I live in France, my work is characterised by a stylised and refined french classical style.

My practice is centred on large-format watercolours (raisin, 70x90 cm and more), painted with broad, luminous brushstrokes and an expressive, economical line. My subjects include urban scenes, seascapes, figures, and travel landscapes.

For a while I attended the evening classes of the city of Paris - drawing and engraving. My inspiration comes from painters such as Cézanne, Dufy, Matisse, Staël and Modigliani, and sculptors like Bourdelle, Quinquaud and Janniot. Their mastery of line and form guides my own approach.

I have been exhibiting regularly since 2006, including at the Salon du dessin et de la peinture à l'eau at the Grand Palais in Paris. My work is currently represented by galleries in Paris, Honfleur, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, as well as in Austria and, shortly, in New York and Venice.
