ABOUT
I never begin with the whole picture.
I begin with a line.
Then another.
I paint allowing each mark to lead to the next. I rarely step back to understand the image while it is forming. The painting reveals itself gradually, and I continue until I feel that there is nothing more to add.
My medium changes with the moment. I work with oil, acrylic, watercolour and digital painting — choosing intuitively whatever feels as though it belongs in my hand at that particular time.
Sometimes a painting begins with an image, a feeling or a fragment that appears in my mind. Sometimes I simply begin.
Painting is a quiet form of meditation in which I give up control and allow the work to become something I could not have completely imagined beforehand.
I am a German-born, self-taught artist currently living in Russia. My work is an ongoing conversation between intuition, emotion and myself.
