Riccardo Bergamini (Rome, 1953) is an Italian photographer based in Brussels and editorial director of FF Magazine.
He trained as a musician, taking a degree in music with a master's in clarinet and saxophone, and studied composition. He composed for ballet and dance companies, and the search for a common language between sound and image led him to work with painters and with the photographer Elisabetta Catalano. In 1989 photography became his profession. He has shot fashion and commercial work for brands including Benetton, Emporio Armani, Luxottica, Wolford and Bassetti.
His personal work treats architecture as living beings that awaken at night: towers, stations and construction sites in Rome and Milan become creatures of steel and glass, breathing in dark, near-monochrome light.
His work has been exhibited at the Arsenale in Venice, the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Rome, Palazzo Te in Mantua and, in Belgium, at the Ethnological Museum in De Panne and the Église du Béguinage. He is also featured in Leica's LFI Gallery.
