Sadia Afrin

A contemplative observer of land and light, I work primarily in oil and acrylic to capture the quiet drama of natural environments. My practice is rooted in direct experience—sketching on location, studying shifting weather patterns, and translating those impressions into richly layered studio works.

Using oil paints, I build depth through glazing and subtle tonal transitions, allowing skies to breathe and horizons to recede with a luminous, almost meditative quality. In acrylic, my approach becomes more immediate and textural, employing both soft and bold brushwork to evoke the raw energy of the terrain—wind moving across grasslands, the fractured surfaces of cliffs, or the reflective stillness of water.

Color plays a central role in my work, not merely as representation but as an emotional language. Earthy ochres, deep greens, and expansive blues are often punctuated by unexpected notes of warmth or coolness, suggesting fleeting moments—sunlight breaking through cloud cover or the final glow of dusk fading into shadow.
