ABOUT
EDUCATION
I am a visual artist, graphic novelist, and computational creativity researcher whose practice spans oil painting, digital illustration, and generative storytelling. With over two decades of independent creative work — including architectural visualization, 3D digital art, and commissioned illustration — my artistic voice has always gravitated toward narrative depth and character. I have authored and illustrated graphic novels including Fatima: A Survival Journey and Enchanted Desert, and developed the Classic Comics Series, blending scholarly rigour with hands-on artistic production. My work sits at the intersection of fine art and interactive media, exploring how visual storytelling can illuminate the human condition across cultures and contexts.
My academic formation is rooted in both art and design thinking. I hold a Ph.D. in Interaction Design from the University of Gothenburg (2021), where my dissertation — Generative Comics: A Computational Approach to Creating Comics Material — broke new ground in computational approaches to visual storytelling and character design. Before that, I completed a Master of Science in Information Technology with a specialisation in Art & Technology at Chalmers University of Technology (2007), equipping me with a rigorous technical foundation that has always served my creative practice. My earliest formation in architectural design at Al-Najah National University further shaped my sensitivity to space, composition, and form — qualities that remain central to my work as a visual artist today.
