Ling Feng is a contemporary artist whose practice moves between Beijing and Los Angeles, known for her refined abstract paintings that explore stillness, balance, and the subtle rhythm between life and art — not as a mirror, but as a continuous breath.
With nearly three decades of artistic practice, her work spans painting, performance, conceptual photography, installation, and cross-disciplinary design. Trained in oil painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, her work has developed into a distinctive abstract language defined by softness, restraint, and quiet intensity.
Influenced by German Expressionism, Surrealism, the philosophical sensibilities of Mono-ha, and the monochromatic explorations of Yves Klein, Ling Feng’s paintings examine the relationship between matter and void, gesture and stillness, body and spirit. Through layered textures and muted tonal fields, her works create a calm yet dynamic presence that invites awareness rather than interpretation.
Between 2009 and 2019, Ling Feng lived and worked in Los Angeles, where her practice shifted decisively toward abstraction, integrating performance and action painting into a controlled yet expressive gestural vocabulary.
