Luc Vernimmen

As a child, Luc Vernimmen was already drawing comic strips, and even then, he dreamed of shaping his life in this creative way. The studies at Sint Lucas in Antwerp was therefore an obvious choice. After this study, he also studied sculpture at the Antwerp Academy of Fine Arts.
In the meantime, he also learned the tricks of the trade in digital graphics during his career in the graphic software department of Agfa-Gevaert and started his side business as a graphic designer and illustrator.

His work evolved from monochrome to colorful applied graphics: after years of focusing on old printing techniques such as wood engraving, etching and aquatint, his work gradually became more colorful.

As a freelance graphic designer, he designs logos, brochures, posters, corporate identity, etc., but increasingly focused on creating illustrations for publishers and companies. For instance, he designed and illustrated a number of picture books, and in 2014 his cartoon book "Without Words" was released.

In his oil paintings, he can indulge himself with themes such as people, the city, and music, using intense and bright colors in thin layers.

He regularly exhibits his work, and his cartoons win many prizes at various international cartoon festiv...
