Buko Cavalcante

I am a Brazilian visual artist based in São Paulo, working with material, memory, and social criticism. My practice combines research, text, and fragments of lived experience, using acrylic, charcoal, collage, cardboard, documents, rust, and other low-cost materials that carry time and tension.

The work explores what remains when language is no longer enough: traces of class, labor, displacement, and survival. I am interested in pieces that hold their own as objects, while also carrying a broader critical structure beneath the surface.

Painting and assemblage are, for me, ways of building image through friction, rupture, and persistence.

Transdisciplinary background in design, data science, and accounting, with an ongoing self-directed practice in visual art.

Individual and group exhibitions in independent and developing contexts.
