Panchenko Oleksandr

I have been drawing since childhood. Even during my school years, my teachers were convinced that art would be my calling. My first attempt to pursue a career in the arts came at the age of 21, but life’s path led me to literature—I became a writer and poet.
Later, aged 31–33, I returned to the visual arts, creating graphic works for book design. Over time, I developed my own artistic language, independent of academic schools and direct mentorship.
At the age of 51, I began creating large-scale works, combining various materials and techniques: wood, plywood, nails, thread, paint and canvas. In my work, I feel a kinship with the traditions of Conceptualism, Suprematism, Cubism and Abstract Art.
My work is grounded in a humanistic worldview and the philosophy of cosmopolitanism. I am interested in universal questions of human existence, the interaction between humans and nature, culture and the inner world. My creative principle is ‘realise, then create’.

The works are created using the artist’s own mixed media technique, employing stretched canvas, primed plywood, cardboard and watercolour paper.
