I'm M.Samsudin, a self-taught visual artist based in Jakarta, Indonesia.
My work lives at the intersection of Islamic spirituality and contemporary minimalism. I call it "visual dhikr" — art that carries remembrance of God not through words alone, but through gesture, restraint, and silence on the canvas.
Each piece begins with intention. A single stroke, a hidden word, a small mark of color — nothing is accidental, even when it looks spontaneous. I'm drawn to the wabi-sabi philosophy of imperfection and simplicity, and I bring that same quietness into how I interpret sacred Arabic calligraphy.
I don't paint to fill walls. I paint so that whoever looks at the work — Muslim or not — pauses for a moment longer than they expected to.
Every piece is 100% hand-painted, with no AI involved in any stage of the process.
