Norman Barrett

I am a contemporary abstract artist based in the United Kingdom, creating original acrylic paintings that celebrate colour, movement, and emotion. Although I have always been drawn to art and creativity, painting became more than a hobby when I realised it was the one place where I could completely disconnect from the demands of everyday life and express ideas that words could never fully capture.

My work is inspired by the beauty found in both the natural and urban worlds. The changing colours of the seasons, architectural forms, weathered textures, and the energy of modern life all influence my paintings. Rather than reproducing what I see, I interpret these experiences through abstraction, allowing colour, texture, and composition to tell the story.

Working mainly with acrylics, I build each painting through multiple layers, creating depth, contrast, and subtle details that reveal themselves over time. I enjoy balancing bold, expressive marks with quieter moments, producing artworks that feel energetic yet harmonious. Every piece is unique, evolving naturally throughout the creative process until it reaches a point where it feels complete.
