John Reynolds

John Reynolds is a contemporary abstract artist who explores the texture and vibrant colour relationships inspired by the shifting patterns found in the ocean in abstract form.


John studied Art and Photography in Sheffield prior to relocating to Cornwall where his practice explores the intersection of thought, movement, and emotional landscapes through layered compositions and intuitive mark-making. Working primarily with acrylic, mixed media, and textured surfaces, his work embraces spontaneity while balancing structure with expressive freedom.

John creates paintings that invite viewers to form their own interpretations. Rich textures, bold gestures, and carefully considered colour relationships evoke a sense of both familiarity and mystery, encouraging moments of reflection and connection.

Over the years, he has developed a distinctive visual language characterised by dynamic compositions and subtle contrasts between colour and medium. The process often allows each painting to evolve organically through successive layers, revealing traces of earlier decisions beneath the final surface.
