I title all of my works "Inyeon", a Korean word that speaks of the connections, encounters, and relationships that shape our lives. I have also long used the English phrase "Paths Crossed" to express this idea—the moment when separate lives, memories, and experiences meet and become connected.
My paintings are an attempt to capture the moment when such connections reveal themselves—a meeting of people, nature, memory, and emotion that may seem fleeting, yet continues to resonate long afterward. I believe that nothing exists entirely on its own. Every form, color, and gesture is connected to something beyond itself.
Rooted in Western watercolor, my work also embraces Eastern sensibilities through ornamental patterns, flowing brushstrokes, and textures inspired by traditional ink painting. Watercolor allows color and water to meet, spread, and transform beyond complete control. This process reflects my understanding of Inyeon: separate elements coming together naturally and becoming part of a greater whole.
Through my paintings, I seek to preserve these quiet moments of connection and invite viewers to reflect on the relationships, memories, and encounters that have shaped their own lives.
