"My paintings are visual maps of internal human conflicts and the complexity of our emotions. Through a distinctive mixed-media process—combining acrylic, oil pastel, charcoal, and quartz sand on canvas—I build dense, relief-like textures (impasto). I then aggressively scratch, pierce, and reopen these layers using a palette knife, a physical action that metaphorically peels away social masks to expose the vulnerability hidden beneath. The dynamic tension, harmony, and friction between the color fields on my canvases are a direct reflection of intricate, sometimes bleak, human relationships."

Drago Leskovar, MFA (b. 1973) is an established Slovenian contemporary painter whose work explores the human psyche, existential division, and raw emotional states. He holds a Master of Fine Arts from the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts and Design (ALUO) in Ljubljana, where he studied under the prominent Slovenian art authorities Prof. Bojan Gorenec and Prof. Jožef Muhovič. Deeply rooted in the traditions of Neo-Expressionism and Art Brut, Leskovar’s practice is defined by a heavy tactile materiality, blending technical precision with raw intuitive energy. He is an active member of the Ljubljana Fine Artists Society (DLUL) and his works are included in institutional and private collections across Europe and Japan.
