Samuele Santi

Samuele Santi is a contemporary artist, architetc and designer.
I love creating my paintings at night, when unsleeping consciousnesses open up to question themselves and life, in a faint soliloquy, in a continuous dialogue with the work to reach a certain definition.
My production includes figurative works with echoes of Expressionism and architectural works that transcend abstraction, where acrylic fields blend with charcoal and oil pastel marks. Enigmatic signs, at times a chaos of lines and stains, brushstrokes and fragments of ruins, visions, reminiscences.
The encounter with an image often awakens a strong desire in me, a love affair with the image itself, which drives me to paint it. The brain develops suggestions that must be listened to and followed.
In painting, there is the possibility of being "captured," trapped by the painting, as by the gaze of the Gorgon, a fascinating hypnotic relationship that testifies to a tension between desire and terror... we fear what we desire and we desire what we fear.
I draw directly onto the support; taking risks is essential to bringing a painting to life. Canvas, paper, or cardboard are often subjected to harsh treatment, erasures, and overlays. There's a very impulsive approach. ...
