Colby Murray

Colby Dylan Murray (b. 5 February 1990, Abilene, Texas) is a metalworker based in Pathum Wan, Bangkok. He learned to weld as a teenager in Cisco, Texas, later working as a production welder, underwater welder, and metallurgical inspector. In the studio he makes one-off steel and bronze sculptures, collectible furniture, and architectural metal himself — casting, welding, and finishing each object by hand. His practice treats industrial metalcraft as a living tradition: fire, the visible seam, and repair. Completed interiors include Orphic Bar (Phnom Penh, 2017), Stryke Bar (Bangkok), Milagro Bar (India), and Amara Home / Amara Annex (India). He opened the Bangkok studio during Bangkok Design Week 2024 as Colby Dylan Studio.

Self-taught as a welder from adolescence in Cisco, Texas. Production welding, underwater welding (Los Angeles), and quality-assurance inspection for the Department of Defense on nuclear vessels. No art degree.
