A J Chander

I’m a self-taught abstract artist based in London, working primarily with acrylic on canvas. My work is led by colour, texture and instinct, using layers of paint and expressive mark-making to create bold, tactile compositions.

I take inspiration from changing light, seasons, landscapes and everyday moments. My paintings often begin with a feeling, memory or particular combination of colours rather than a fixed image, developing intuitively as I layer, scrape and rebuild the paint.

I’m particularly interested in the way colour can capture a feeling or atmosphere, creating pieces that are expressive, vibrant and individual.
