Olena Marychevska

My work is not meant to be understood with logic — it is meant to be felt. Through my art, I invite the viewer to step away from that search for answers and turn inward instead — to notice the thoughts, emotions, and quiet sensations that surface simply by being present with the work. There is nothing to analyze here. Only something to feel, at the level of the heart.

I work primarily in abstract painting, moving between geometric abstract compositions and abstract symbolism. My core technique is acrylic on canvas, often built up with a textured, sand-like surface that gives the paintings a tactile, almost sculptural presence. Alongside my paintings, I also create hand-woven tapestries using original weaving methods, as well as original acrylic on wood decorative pieces.

Whether rendered in bold geometric form or soft symbolic color, each piece is created as an invitation — a small space for stillness in a world that asks us to explain everything. My aim is simply to offer contemporary abstract art that speaks quietly, and lets the viewer feel their own way through it.

Graduated from Ivan Trush Lviv State College of Decorative and Applied Arts with a specialization in Art Weaving (2006)

Completed studies at the Lviv National Academy of Arts, Faculty of Decorative and Applied Arts, earning a Master’s Degree in Textile Art (2011)
