Irma Jaskunaite

I am IrmaJa, a self-taught Lithuanian artist living in England. I have been drawing since childhood, but I began painting seriously in 2022. Without formal art education, I have developed my practice through experimentation, online learning and, most importantly, through simply allowing myself to explore and paint.
My work is guided by feeling, atmosphere and the small moments that catch my attention. An idea can come from a landscape, an animal, a fleeting moment, a memory or simply a feeling I want to capture. Rather than being tied to one particular subject, I enjoy allowing my inspiration to lead me naturally from one painting to the next.
I mainly work with acrylics, combining realistic elements with painterly touches, texture and subtle colour. I am particularly drawn to natural subjects, atmospheric landscapes and everyday scenes that can evoke a sense of calm, nostalgia or quiet emotion.
For me, painting is not only about creating an image, but about capturing a feeling. I hope that when someone looks at one of my paintings, they can pause for a moment, connect with the atmosphere and perhaps feel something of their own.
