Ellen Monaghan

Trained at The London College of Printing with a BA Hons Graphic Design, I practiced as a graphic designer at the BBC for many years.

Moving to brand strategy director, I worked with commercial creative agencies, and inhouse creative teams, to develop brand strategies, identity systems and communications for well known brands. Finally completing my commercial career as Head of Brand and Marketing, launching a new consumer brands and refreshing corporate identities.

Now a full time, professional artist. My work is about celebrating the joy of life in the human form and the natural world around me with landscapes. My work also allows me to practice gratitude for the life I have and the beauty of the world I live in.

I live between London and Ireland and happily find inspiration in both contrasting spaces and places.

My work is expressive and fluid through my obsession with colour, light, scale, space and perspective. I try to capture rhythms, moods, shapes through acrylic, pastels and charcoal. I reveal in simplifying the complex, editing the detail. Not always capturing what I see, but expressing what I feel, whether plein air or in a studio.
