Carlos Krauz

I am a Brazilian visual artist and work with various materials, including acrylic sheets, "audiovisual", drawing, painting and installation art. I am not interested in the techniques themselves but as agents of what I mean. In my current production I've been using fabric and magnet. For me, these materials are the means to address issues such as balance, tension, attraction and repulsion. Issues that are also present in our relationship with the world and with others. We live around the equilibrium. In other words we inhabit its opposite which is the imbalance. For this we need only remember that it is the act of walking we met face-to-face with him. By placing one foot on the ground we need to just remove the other to put ourselves in motion. It seems we're always being attracted or repelled by something and is also for this reason that we need to move. Even without knowing where we are coming from and where we are going. We want to be near and far. We live the paradox. We are inhabited by instability and doubt. But we affirm fiercely until our last breath we are not anything like that.

In 2001 I obtained a Master's degree in Visual Arts, emphasis in Visual Poetics at the Art Institute of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

In 1993 I graduated in Visual Arts at the Arts Institute of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre, Brazil
