Silvia Marieta was born in Lisbon (Portugal) in 1982. Early in life she showed a taste for drawing, later became interested in painting. In childhood her designs caught the attention of teachers, parents and friends. In adolescence she began drawing portraits from photos, and as just later in the Faculty of Fine Arts from the University of Lisbon (FBAUL) that she began to draw and paint on sight, with live models, and also studied new techniques, such as artistic engraving techniques, among others.
She started the course in 2001 and finished her degree (old reform), in the category of painting, in 2006. But even before entering college, still in her teens, she started painting with oil on canvas, almost as a way of expressing feelings, as if the paintings were an extension of herself. Her favourite theme is the human figure, she considered it simultaneously admirable and confusing, which offends and seduces, among many other features. In her paintings, drawings, or any other techniques, there is always a demand for realism in the representation of faces and the human body, and these, in turn, are often inserted into surrealist compositions and full of symbolism.
