Multidisciplinary artist Samuel Lindup, is a fast growing "˜mover and shaker' amongst the Bath & Bristol art scenes. Since graduating with a 2:1 in Drawing for Fine Art Practice in 2003, Samuel has pursued his art career determinedly. Exploring media beyond drawing, where his natural talents lie, Sam has discovered new themes which are important to him. His current practice sees him exploring mass consumerism, mass production and how, as humans we are driven to continue to create more. More tools, more pleasing design, more variety and ultimately, more stuff.

"˜Sometimes I feel like we are drowning in a world of plastic bits and pieces, with wave upon wave of more tat flowing into the world. The values of working with what we already have or what we can fix up ourselves to make do have nearly gone. Now our culture promotes having the newest gadget over and above everything else despite the cost to the environment or our own pockets.'
Without a heavy-handed approach or trying to change people overnight, Samuel instead creates sculptural pieces that blend traditional woodworking methods with mass-produced products, often toys, to help highlight his concerns.
