Mathieu Lemarié graduated from the Paris Beaux-Arts in 2000, and has been painting ever since, both for his own works and for various artistic collaborations.
His works generally feature landscapes or interior scenes that look like the actors have just left the stage.
The paintings evoke celebrations that have already taken place, moments of sharing or abandonment that seem to belong to memory.
Although almost always figurative, the paintings superimpose different pictorial treatments, different plastic writings and can, of course, be seen as abstract.
Rigorously composed in all formats, they generally feature a palette of nuances that alternates between over-exposure and nocturnal moods.
Alongside his painting practice, he regularly collaborates with leading set designers, film directors, stage directors and designers, producing large-format canvases, inventing motifs for furniture and imitating masterpieces for films.

Resident member of the Casa de Velazquez, of the French Academy of Fine Arts, in Madrid from 2004 to 2006.
Master’s degree in Plastic Arts obtained from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
Bachelor’s degree in visual arts for the architectural environment obtained from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des arts appliqués et des Métiers d’Art de Paris.
