Howie Johnson

Inspiration with a touch of digital creation

.Howie has been creative all of his working life, before having to retire due to ill health in 2009. Howie's work was in the design, layout and installation of window displays and interiors for various major retailers, working both aboard as well as in the UK. He often says that his;" work was like a still life from a film or stage play; creating the backdrops, props and lighting before finally introducing the mannequins as the actors"; now with his photographic work he finds the role almost the same yet with real models and locations.

Born in Scarborough in 1955 and inspired by his grandfather's photography and the art of the Pre-Raphaelites and many other art forms Howies interest has been to pursue the styles for himself.
Howie is self taught in his camera work and that of using computers to help bring together his style; even Photoshop was self taught; he says," by not using a manual and just working at my own pace and learning Photoshop this way I found unique ways rather than what everyone picks up from a manual".
