Lia De Craen

Nature inspires her. Pictures, which have been taken outside, create visuals and are the base for new artwork. Her themes are related to the life cycles of motion, variety and transience. In short; nothing remains unchangeable.
Particular textures are characteristic for her artwork. She creates these on the canvas with various substances. She searches for unexpected compositions and shapes, layering and thought-out use of colors.
She removes or adds until layer after layer the image that represents the abstract essence the original and natural idea arises
