Trained at the Ecole nationale superieure des Arts decoratifs (Paris), for a long time Alain Frappier used various forms of expression - music, photography, illustration, graphic design and literature... Dispersion - scattering, for those who consider an individual as something indivisible, or rather, the multiple facets of an artist constantly aiming to find form through art forms, and finally choosing to assert himself in painting. Portraits came first: "Painting each one of these faces, mostly unknown faces, all greatly worn by life, was a very moving experience, a very personal encounter". They were followed by urban landscapes inspired by the world of blues: "Take La rue des Fillettes, it's a landscape that is bound to disappear, eaten whole by machines, and it recalls certain urban settings of Chicago".
