Adem Genç (Ardeşen/Turkey, 1944)
Trained as a painter and artisan in the Art and Craft department of Gazi Institute of Education between 1962-65. Taught art and craft in Adana and in Rize and then, received Turkish Government scholarship to do postgraduate studies abroad. In England, he attended Figure Drawing and Printmaking courses at Bournemouth College of Art and then was admitted into Saint Martin’s School of Art in London (Presently, UAL/University of the Arts London, Central and Saint Martin’s College of Art), and completed Postgraduate / Advanced Painting Programme in 1974.
Upon his return to Turkey, he taught Western Art / Contemporary Period, drawing, studio painting, and graphic art in Samsun Institute of Education, Aegean University and Dokuz Eylül University where he also obtained his PhD.
Dr. Genç, completed his Post-Doctoral research at California State University as a Fulbright Scholar and artist in residence (1991-92) and then became Professor of Art in 1992.
