Maaike Poog

I was born on the 14th of april in 1967 at Makkum, a small town in the north of the Netherlands near the Afsluitdijk.
I started to make oil paintings at the age of 13. Through the years I developed my own style. I had many succesful exhibitions at several places in the Netherlands and abroad.

The inspiration of my paintings I obtain from my direct vicinity.The most beautiful places in my home town were often used as background for many of my portraits.

I am an self-taught artist, who developed her own style. In 2007 I won a third price in an important Dutch painting contest, with a painting of two identical clowns.
