Donatella Nicolardi

I’m a mosaic artist. The art of mosaic has been my life since I was a child. I used to see my father create mosaic and cut stones or marbles.
I studied art at the University of Lecce. After my graduation I attended a practical course about the creation of mosaics in Ravenna and at the same time I was studying diagnostic methodologies to apply to ceramic, stone and mosaic material.
When I started to create my first mosaics, the materials I used were plastic or plexiglass tiles, that I had found in factories located in the industrial area of my town.
Mosaics were and are my passion. Sometimes I think that my DNA is in the shape of a mosaic tile.
