Mila Rea was born and raised in Russia, where she worked as a graphic designer before moving to Calgary. She graduated from the Alberta College of Art + Design with a Bachelor of Design in Illustration. Despite her training as an illustrator and digital artist she consistently returns to the luscious beauty of traditional mediums. She gains inspiration from life, beauty, childhood, literature, music and nature.
