Veronica Bastias

I was born in Florida in 1990, along, with my brother and sister --we are triplets. Soon after, my mother and father separated, forcing my mother to move back to Colombia where she is from. I was raised in Medellin where I lived in a house with my mom, my brother, my sister, and my loving grandparents. When I was 10 years old, my mom decided to move back to the United States. While it was tough to envision a life without my parents, my mom maintained that she was doing it so that we would have more opportunities. It wasn't long before I experienced what my mom was talking about: my sister and I auditioned and were soon enrolled into A. W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach, a magnet school for the arts and one of the best in the county. This experience allowed me to pursue the field that I was most passionate about: Art. After high school, I immersed myself in my field, focusing on painting at California College of the Arts in San Francisco, from which I received my BFA in 2012. I currently reside in Oakland, where I devote all my time to furthering my career as an artist.
