In my work I have used as a source of inspiration my nomadic domestic history and experience, memories of constant changing household within a city or through travel. As a source of visual reference, I use maps, photographs, postcards and other visual documentation about cities or landscapes, including aerial views. I translate these in an eclectic rage of pictorial approaches, which often develop into figurative and abstracted pictorial structures.
In my paintings, there is a kind of mapping taking place within the pieces. I emphasis the notion of “Displacement” and “Difference” in a deliberate way by means of fragmented “parts” and “whole” as a metaphor for that which is made internally in different parts.
I am very interested in making pictures from a variety of jigsaw pieces, belonging to separate puzzles, juxtaposing and embedding them simultaneously to subvert the final reading, exploring the idea of neighboring factions and their relationships.
