Paul Brennan is an artist living and working in the West Midlands and holds a degree in art from the University of Birmingham. Following the global recession in 2008, he experimented with an art style which reflected the economic slump. Known as 'Recessionism', the style recycled everyday material - from vanish to disposed goods - to create paintings and sculpture. Following a hiatus, which saw much walking in the English countryside, Paul has returned to his artistic roots. His work now focuses on land and nature.
In 2006 I graduated from the University of Birmingham with a 2:1 with honours in Art. My dissertation was an installation piece inspired by eighteenth century architecture.
In 2007 I held my own exhibition and as a result of that I was invited to display my work at the Moseley Christmas Art Market. This was a successful event which was covered by the Birmingham Mail, Birmingham Post and the Birmingham 13 Magazine. In 2009 I wrote an article for a new Birmingham based magazine, called 'The Given', whilst exhibiting locally.
