Anna Mihailidou

Anna Mihailidou focuses her artistic interest on questions about the daily aspects of the modern reality we are experiencing.
Her work is a well-aimed and sometimes caustic commentary on ever-changing social structures and on universal moral systems and issues of values, which until recently we took for granted.

She makes sure that her work it is not restricted to specific thematic section but that each work is a theme on its own and maintains its independence. That means that each one is unique and outlines its own truth, working with the basic denominator, the anthropocentric element by cauterize and aptly.
She interesting for contrasts and opposing elements in her work, in playing with the image that is perceived by the creation of a sudden new element in a seemingly direct image.

The photorealistic element is one of the basic elements of her work aiming, not as a bad imitation of a photograph but overcoming the photograph.
That is why she paints with serious attention on detail.

Anna Mihailidou was born in Athens.
During the period 2001- 2006 she studied at the School of Fine Arts in Athens and graduated with honors.
During her studies she also specified apart from painting, in engraving and typography. Also she got a scholarship and an award from the Greek State Scholarship Foundation In the years 2001, 2002 and 2003.

She has been selected among 600 artists from different countries for an exhibition held by the Museum of Young Art (M.O.Y.A.) of Vienna in 2010, and, In that same year, she took part in a group exhibition held by UNESCO entitled ‘World Poverty and Human Rights’.
In 2011 her work has been presented at the International Contemporary Art Fair, ART – ATHINA. In 2012 she had her first solo exhibition in the Artzone42, Gallery in Athens.
She has presented her work and has participated in selected events in Greece and abroad (Art Suites Gallery/ Istanbul, "National Geographic"/ Finland, Fine Art Fair/ New York).
Some of her works can be found in private collections.
