Maria de Vries was born in 1955 en works and lives in the Netherlands. Maria is an artist with a colorful pallet and mostly paints expressive, adventurous colorful paintings.
Extraordinary are her warm colours in a great part of her large paintings in acrylic on linen. This type of paint suits with her way of working. Her painting style is figurative and abstractive. Maria has been a painter for over 30 years and published 2 books of art. Recently she was seen on tv with the housing show 'Woontips' on RTL4. She has expositions in the Netherlands as well as in foreign countries.
She gets her inspiration from human kind, animals and nature. Maria lives in the beautiful countryside and likes to walk in nature. She had been taking care of the animals she paints and she wil always be intrigued by people. On top of that she enjoys her trips to foreign countries preferably in desolate areas. You can feel the urge to contain the moment and to capture her impressions on the painting. According to Maria, the paintings are born in the process and not made. Figures out of her own environment get familiar shapes with spontaneous brush strokes and a variety of colors.
